So what’s with the long wait Taco Bell? Flautas or taquitos or whatever you want to call them seem like the perfect candidate for Mexican fast food. It doesn’t really matter why and all is forgiven because your Rolled Chicken Tacos turned out to be great. Let’s review.
Taco Bell’s Rolled Chicken Tacos are simple and effective fast food grub. You can pick up this style of Mexican snack anywhere from a sit-down restaurant to a gas station convenience store. What surprised me most about these inparticular was the way the corn tortilla rolled taco shell was able to stay so perfectly crunchy. The thick, crisp texture is one of the best and most satisfying qualities I’ve come across for this style of food. There have been too many times where I’ve had weak chicken taquitos with burnt edges or a too soft of a center so I was pleased with Taco Bell’s version.Filling each 6-inch rolled taco is all-white-meat shredded chicken which is marinated in familiar Mexican seasonings and blends of onion/garlic/tomato powder spices. The shred of the chicken varied, but I found some nice hearty chunks in some spots. I found the Rolled Chicken Tacos to not be skimpy on the chicken and each carried a decent weight. The simplicity of Rolled Chicken Tacos is a plus by default as there’s a lot less risk of finding issues when we’re only talking about a couple of ingredients. Taco Bell takes advantage of the simple combination of ingredients by making five dipping sauces available The dipping sauces range from average to great. You get one dipping sauce choice for every two Rolled Chicken Tacos. The Spicy Ranch is awesome, my personal favorite. It’s spicy enough, but doesn’t go overboard and has a nice thick consistency and flavor.

Nacho Cheese works better as a dipping sauce than most everything else it’s used in so I’d say it was my second favorite. Premium Guacamole isn’t very premium to me and salsa should be free. Reduced-fat sour cream shouldn’t be in the same value category as these others, but I’d still put it at #3 out of my preferred options. The dipping sauce container is more than big enough for two Rolled Chicken Tacos and I had plenty left over.
At a price of $1.99 for 2 Rolled Chicken Tacos, I’d put the value at about average and fails to reach “impressive” status once you start comparing to certain Dollar Cravings Menu items. I’d buy these again and again without much concern over the price since I enjoyed them so much, but I wouldn’t mind them make an appearance on the Happier Hour menu with a special promo price. There have been some hits (Cheesy Gordita Crunch DLT) and some misses (Waffle Taco) in 2014 for Taco Bell, and as the year is winding down it’s great to see such a solid addition to the menu.
Pros: Perfectly crisp corn tortilla texture. Meaty. Spicy Ranch dipping sauce.

Cons: 2 for $1.99 and 4 for $3.99? I”d like to see a little discount with higher quantity orders. Salsa/Reduced-Fat Sour Cream dipping sauce choices should be free.
