Sukhwant Singh from Sangrur had committed suicide by allegedly consuming poisonous substance outside the office of the SAS Nagar-based immigration consultants-Rudraksh Group Overseas Solutions. He was rushed to a private hospital where he was declared dead.
“He had borrowed Rs 2.5 lakhs from a money lender (aarthiya) on interest to pay immigration consultants for visa. They failed to arrange for his visa and delayed the refund of money on which the interest was adding up,” brother of the victim Baljeet Singh said.
“He had made several visits to the firm for more than two years for refund but to no avail. Even on Wednesday, he had gone to collect money but when the immigration company failed to refund the money, he consumed poison,” Baljeet added.
In a meeting with senior cops, the family named an employee of the immigration consultancy firm and sought action against him.
“My brother should get justice and we are pinning hope on the cops to take action against the persons who are responsible for his death so that his soul may rest in peace,” Baljeet added.
“The family had named certain employees. Guilty will not be spared and would be brought to book,” said SAS Nagar SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar.
