Baba Ji’s call for shaheedi came after they had spent years in their bhora in meditation, to reach Harmandir Sahib before the Mughals invaded and Baba Ji marched to Tarn Taaran and drew the line of Martyrdom, which all the Gursikhs crossed to join his army. Baba Ji showed the power of ardas when their head came off in combat and they had the Shakit and blessing to still fight on with their head in their palm until they reached Harmandir Sahib and surrendered their head and last breath in the Guru’s charan.
